“Feeding the Community We Live In”

Our mission is to feed those in need within Falls Village, Norfolk and North Canaan, CT.

Open:  Tuesday - 5pm-7pm
             Thursday -  12pm -2pm

The Pilgrim House
 30 Granite Avenue
 North Canaan, CT 06018

With a poverty rate of roughly 8% in our towns many families are considered “food-insecure” and rely on Fishes and Loaves to ease their financial burden. In 2020, the pantry served roughly 100 families a week, and distributed food for over 80,000 meals. Our client breakdown is 57% adults, 26% children and 17% seniors. Without the pantry, those families would find it more difficult to meet their basic needs.

The Pilgrim House contains eight freezers and four refrigerators, including a dedicated cooler for dairy. It has three rooms for food storage as well as a spacious room used by volunteers to sort and pack produce for distribution.

Fishes and Loaves is supported by a broad spectrum of community members, including St. Martin of Tours parish that collects and delivers groceries based on a list of needed items; Scouts, Salisbury Rotary and Northwest Lions Club periodic food drives; an area resident who makes 50 delicious egg salad sandwiches weekly; farmers that bring eggs and fresh local produce. Freunds’ Farm in East Canaan donates products from their excellent kitchen and bakery and in 2020 helped us get a grant and dairy cooler through Connecticut Farm Families.
